Dedicated to Preserving Old Time and Bluegrass Music

Welcome and Thank You for Visiting Our Website

The Frozen Fingers Music Association of Minot was organized on February 21, 2007 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of old time and bluegrass music.

Prior to radios and recordings, people made their own music.  A good fiddler was highly respected and prized in the community. Old-time music was dance music; it was also parlor music, as well as ballads, accompanied or unaccompanied. It was not concert music. Each region, even each county, had unique styles. Until the advent of recordings and radio, the tunes and songs were passed by oral tradition.

Today, the old-time community is not large but it is vital. It is not a community of fans as much as participants. This is not to say that musicians of exceptional skill are not admired. But almost everyone in the community plays some kind of instrument and is a musician. Most of them are surprisingly dedicated and adept at their music.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to join us at our jams, stage shows or annual festival.  Come and enjoy the music from this country's roots. We challenge you to encourage, protect and join us in the preservation of old-time and bluegrass music.
